November 2014 Events
UPDATES: After burrowing into a hole to finish my second book (announcements will follow soon), I emerged to join fellow Southwest Writers (SWW) for a SIGNING on Sunday, November 16th. A number of SWW authors signed books at the Balloon Museum Holiday Arts & Crafts Fair, 9am-4.30pm. I’m pleased to report I had a successful signing of my “Tower” book, 10.30-noon. Thank you to the new readers that bought my book!
On November 29th, 10 am to noon, I took part in the INDIES FIRST nation-wide all-day event at our local participating bookstore: PAGE 1 in Albuquerque. The general idea of Indies First was to have local authors in markets across North America be on hand to recommend books to potential buyers. And not just their own titles – but books that have influenced them and/or that they just enjoy.
I had a good time chatting with fellow readers about all kinds of books they were seeking. I believe I actually helped some find what they wanted as well as getting a good taste of working in a bookstore. I was fortunate to sell 5 books when I only hoped for 1 or 2, so, all in all, a great experience that I hope to do again next year. Thanks, Page 1 and fellow readers!
Back in August, 2014:
My First SciFi Convention: Bubonicon 46
I was thrown into the whole crazy, fun festival of fans, writers, costumed “reenactors” and just curious folks at Albuquerque’s long running BUBONICON 46, August 1-3, 2014, at the Albuquerque Marriott. I loved it because we were all like-minded people enjoying our favorite genres but from a wide spectrum of approaches and media.
I met many fine people who were interested in my book as well new readers who bought my book. A constant parade of fascinating people moved through the “market” area and some even wore everyday clothes! 😉
I enjoyed sharing a table with fellow young adult fantasy writer, Joyce Hertzoff, who offered the first book from her fantasy series. Next to us on both sides were accomplished graphic/comic book artists: 7000 BC and Typo’d Mary.
See you there next year!
